JYC showcases Monsang Naga folk song at Kohima Youth Exchange

Thoubal, January 18 2026: Japhou Youth Club (JYC) showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Monsang Naga tribe by performing a traditional folk song during the Inter-State Youth Exchange Programme held at Kigwema, Kohima, from January 13 to 17 .

The Inter-State Youth Exchange Program was organised by Mera Yuva Bharat (formerly Nehru Yuva Kendra), Kohima, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

The program aimed at promoting unity, sharing best practices, and celebrating India's diverse cultures and traditions, thereby fostering collective strength and social harmony.

During the event, the Japhou Youth Club represented Chandel district and participated as part of the Manipur State team.

The club's presentation of the Monsang Naga folk song highlighted the unique cultural identity of the tribe and drew appreciation from participants from various States.

Such inter-State youth exchange programmes play a vital role in promoting cross-cultural learning, nurturing responsible citizenship, crafting leadership and instilling the spirit of oneness among the youths.

The initiative also emphasised personality development, fitness, volunteerism, and national integration among the young generations, contributing towards nation building.

The Japhou Youth Club expressed its gratitude to Mera Yuva Bharat, Chandel district, for providing a meaningful platform and extending support that enabled the youth to represent their culture on a national level.
