MTU hosts Induction Programme for BTech 1st semester students

Students should feel proud to be part of Manipur Technical University, said Prof W Chandbabu, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur Technical University.
He was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function of the Induction Programme for BTech First Semester students of the 2026-27 batch, held on Tuesday at the New Academic Block, Manipur Technical University, Takyelpat.
Addressing the students.
Prof Chandbabu said MTU, the first technical university of Manipur, is working to become a globally recognized institution.
"We are striving to build a quality university that can compete on global platforms and produce competent graduates not only for the State but for the country", he said.
He urged students to understand the changing trends in global education and adopt new ideas to become complete professionals.
He added that MTU now has quality faculty and staff, and is collaborating with foreign universities for internationalization.
Beyond regular engineering courses, the university is also introducing value-added and skill enhancement courses.
Guest of honour, Dr L Debendra, Controller of Examinations, MTU, said students should use the university's support to build a successful future and become responsible engineers.
Registrar Ramananda Nongmaithem said MTU started in 2016 with 5 branches.
The university now offers Ph.D in 11 disciplines, and has introduced M.Tech in 4 disciplines and an Integrated MBA from this academic session.
He added that many MTU alumni are working in reputed companies abroad.
Dr Kshetrimayum Imokanta, Chief Finance Officer, MTU, also attended the event as guest of honour.
