Thoubal, September 12 2026:
World First Aid Day 2026 was observed today at Thoubal Company Operating Base with the participation of youths from villages across Thoubal district organised by the Assam Rifles.
The programme was organised to raise awareness about the importance of first aid and to equip young minds with essential life saving knowledge, said a press release by the Assam Rifles.
In today's programme, the youths were guided on the significance of timely first aid, emergency response and immediate assistance to an injured or critically ill person before professional medical help arrives.
Practical demonstrations and interactive sessions were conducted, focusing on basic measures and appropriate responses to common emergencies.
The interaction highlighted that the first few minutes following an accident or medical emergency are critical, and that basic knowledge of first aid can enable timely assistance and potentially save lives.
Participants were encouraged to remain calm, assess situations carefully, seek professional medical support and provide appropriate first aid within their training and knowledge.
The initiative sought to empower the youth as responsible first responders within their homes and communities.
The enthusiastic involvement of the participants reflected the importance of nurturing a first- aid-aware and safetyconscious generation.
By engaging the youth through such outreach programmes, Assam Rifles has fostered awareness and resilience, contributing to the creation of safer communities in Thoubal district, said the release.
