Imphal, August 11 2025: The Committee on Protection of Meetei Victims (COPMeV), Moreh has called upon IDPs across different relief camps to unite and jointly demand the Government to set a specific date for their resettlement.

COPMeV chairman Leishangthem Inaocha made the appeal during the Committee's 2nd foundation day held today at Ima Yumjao Lairembi Shanglen, Singjamei Chingamakha.

As a part of the event, simple gifts were presented to COPMeV members.

Speaking on the occasion, Leishangthem Inaocha said that COPMeV was formed on August 11, 2023 for the welfare of displaced Meeteis of Moreh.

For the future good of all IDPs, he underscored the need for Moreh youths to take necessary steps for the resettlement of the displaced folks in their original homes.

While relief camp inmates have spoken about many of their grievances, the issue of ensuring the safe return of IDPs from Moreh to their homes remains unsaid, he maintained.

Terming it unfortunate, Inaocha said if the IDPs are not united in their thoughts and ideas, it might prove to be difficult for Moreh IDPs to return home.

COPMeV members Y Shyam, K Kanta, RK Surendra, L Lukhoi, RK Sukha and N Kesho attended the event as presidium members.
