Oral Health Awareness Programme conducted

The Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Dental College, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), successfully organised an Oral Health Awareness Programme for students at Wangkhei High School, Imphal East district today.
As per a release issued by RIMS, the initiative was conducted under the aegis of the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry (ISPPD) as a component of the "NEST-Nurture, Educate, Serve and Treat: A Paediatric Dental Initiative for North Eastern India (2025-2026)" programme.
The NEST initiative aims to enhance the oral health and well-being of children across the North Eastern region through preventive care, early intervention, and community awareness.
The awareness session, held in the school's examination hall, saw enthusiastic participation from around 150 students from Classes I to HI, along with their teachers.
The programme featured engaging educational demonstrations on crucial oral hygiene practices, including proper tooth-brushing techniques, importance of maintaining healthy dietary habits, and the need for regular dental check-ups.
Informative pamphlets on oral hygiene were also distributed to all attendees to reinforce the key messages shared during the session.
The programme was led by Dr Laleena Rajkumari, tutor in the Department of Paediatric & Preventive Dentistry, Dental College, RIMS.
She was supported by Dr Kangjam James (Pedodontist) and Dr Sagolsem Devarani (Pedodontist), as well as an intern from the department who actively participated in the activities.
