Imphal, May 10 2025: A Datsun Go car belonging to a former Assistant General Manager of Imphal Urban Co-operative Bank was burnt by unknown persons at Kiyamgei Lairam Wangma, Imphal West today.

The incident occurred at around 11 am .

Longjam Suranjoy was visiting a family at the locality when his car, parked outside, was burnt by unknown persons.

Denouncing the incident, locals and members of All Kiyamgei Nupi Chaokhat Thourang Lup (AKNCTL) and Peace & Integrity Committee Kiyamgei (PICK) organised a sit-in protest at Kiyamgei Youth Pioneer Club Community Hall today.

Kiyamgei Nupi Chaokhat Thourang Lup president, Moirangthem Sobita said the car was burned by unknown persons who came in a white Hyundai i20 car.

The perpetrators poured fuel on the car and burnt it.

Alerted locals intervened and the car was saved from a major disaster.

The culprits however fled, she said.

Irilbung police have picked up the car.

The perpetrators are yet to be identified.
