DMU initiates 1st VC's Academic Lecture Series

Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) has launched its First Vice Chancellor's Academic Lecture Series (VC-ALS 1) at the university's PG-Science Block in Imphal.
The series aims to promote scholarly discourse, research orientation, and intellectual engagement among students, researchers, and faculty members.
The first lecture in the series was delivered by Dr Rakesh S Laishram, a renowned molecular biochemist and scientist from the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
Dr Rakesh S Laishram, a PhD and Fellow of the National Academy of Science (FNASc), spoke on the topic, "The new RNA world (RNA-Omics): Non coding and Untranslated RNAs in general Expression".
At the event, Prof W Chandbabu, Vice Chancellor of DMU, explained that the VC-ALS is an academic initiative focused on enhancing the university's academic perspective.
He emphasized the need for researchers to explore new areas of research, identify global focus areas, and conduct lectures in those fields.
Prof Chandbabu expressed optimism that with dedicated core researchers, the university could achieve its own ranking within the next five years and also shared the vision to open a biosciences department soon.
Dr Maibam Birla Singh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at DMU and convenor of the programme, highlighted that the lecture series is designed to invite eminent scientists to the university to foster a scientific culture and encourage interaction with students.
The event saw participation from faculty members, research scholars, students, and other academics.
