IRCS Imphal East marks World Red Cross Day with blood donation drive

Imphal, May 08 2026: The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Imphal East District Branch, observed World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day on Friday with a programme at Babina Multispeciality Hospital, Khabeisoi.

Held under this year's global theme "United in Humanity", the event highlighted solidarity and volunteer service.

Narendra Ningomba, chairman, IRCS Manipur State Branch; Ksh Sanahal, vice president, IRCS Imphal East; N Jadumani, Chairperson, Uchekon Nongpok Gram Panchayat; P Surbala Devi, Chairperson, Waiton Gram Panchayat; and Th Dhabali, managing director, Babina Multispeciality Hospital, attended the event as presidium members.

During the programme, 38 persons, including IRCS volunteers and Commerce Department students from Manipur University, donated blood.

Dr Nivedita Lairenlakpam, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East and president of IRCS Imphal East, handed over five walkie-talkie sets to the volunteers.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment to the Red Cross principles of alleviating human suffering and promoting well-being.
