Imphal, June 06 2025:
The Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM) has demanded three key reforms-ensuring public access to Old and New Secretariat offices during full working hours, adopting a six-day workweek, and streamlining file processing in Government offices to enhance transparency and speed up development initiatives.
The TYCM stated that it has submitted a letter to the Chief Secretary outlining these demands.
Effective April 1, 2022, the Manipur Government introduced a five-day workweek for Government offices, agencies and public sector undertakings, following a March 27, 2022, notification, the Youth Council said.
The Council alleged that employees across various departments and offices have not adhered to the prescribed office hours, with most employees arriving late and leaving early.
Claiming that the sluggish and inefficient file processing in numerous Government offices severely affect transparency and hamper the prompt execution of development projects, it urged the Chief Secretary to take necessary steps to ensure a more accessible, responsive and people centric administration.
