AMSU holds painting competition at Thoubal College

Thoubal, April 05 2026:
As part of its month-long Realisation Month observance, the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) organised a painting competition at Thoubal College today on the theme "Illegal Immigration in Manipur and fate of Manipur's future" .
The competition conducted under three categories, witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 500 students representing various schools across the State.
In category A, Khangemba Chandra Meitei of Wangkhei High School secured the first position.
In category B, Seram Jashita Chanu of Nongpok Maheikol emerged as the winner, while Brikrama Lourembam of Comprehensive School bagged the top position in Category C .
Speaking in connection with the event, AMSU HRD Secretary, Santosh Ningthoujam said that the competitions forms part of a series of awareness programmes being conducted during the observance.
He noted that AMSU has been organising poster campaigns, academic campaigns, streetcomer meetings, etc, to sensitise public, particularly students, on key issues affecting the State.are being organised.
He stated that amid the turmoil in the State and the reported rise in illegal immigration, any move to conduct Census without updating the National Registration of Citizens (NRC) should be collectively opposed.
He reiterated that identifying illegal immigrants and updating the NRC has been a longstanding demand of AMSU.
Emphasising the role of students as pillars of society, he urged them to remain aware of the challenges facing the State and to work collectively towards ensuring a secure and progressive future for Manipur.
