DC Jiribam inaugurates Anganwadi centres in Borobekra

Jiribam, July 04 2025: In a significant step towards enhancing childcare and nutrition services in the region, the Deputy Commissioner Jiribam Krishna Kumar on Thursday inaugurated newly constructed buildings of Anganwadi centres at Modhupur, Dholakhal Meitei and Tupidhor under Jakuradhor Sector of Borobekra Sub-Division.

These centres have been constructed under MGNREGS under Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) project as part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme, a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.

The newly constructed Anganwadi centres will provide a conducive environment for the holistic development of children under the age of 6 years, pregnant women and lactating mothers.

The centres will offer a range of services, including supplementary nutrition, health education, immunization, and pre-school education.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of these centres in bridging the gap in healthcare and education services for the most vulnerable sections of society.

He expressed his gratitude to the ICDS, Jiribam for their efforts in constructing these centres, which will go a long way in improving the wellbeing of children and women in the district.
