Kakching, September 03 2025:
In a major step towards promoting entrepreneurship and self-reliance, the Kakching Deputy Commissioner, Rohit Anand handed over cheques to 32 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme at the Conference Hall of the DC's Office Complex today.
Speaking at the function, Rohit Anand highlighted the importance of small businesses and entrepreneurs in driving the development of Manipur and strengthening the State's economy.
He commended the Self-Help Groups (SHGs) working under the PMFME scheme for their dedication and exemplary work, noting that more SHGs and Village Level Federations (VLFs) would soon be created in the district to ensure wider access to Government benefits.
Advising the beneficiaries to invest the loans entirely in their respective businesses to get maximum benefit, he requested the beneficiaries to do their businesses sincerely as the Government is fully supporting them.
He said the District Administration also welcomes them, in case they face technical or bank issues or any kind of help/information.
Observing the business landscape of Kakching, he noted that most entrepreneurs are engaged in three kinds of businesses like the tiffin service, dry fish production, and local kabok or namkeen production.
He encouraged SHGS to diversify their products and explore unique business ideas to secure better prices and expand to wider markets across the State.
The DC also assured the gathering that various training programmes would be arranged in the future to strengthen entrepreneurship skills.
He welcomed suggestions from SHGs for new training needs and informed them that doll-making training is already being conducted at relief camps.
The PMFME scheme, a centrally sponsored scheme under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI),aims to support the formalisation and growth of micro food units.
The scheme is part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan and supports the Vocal for Local vision.
It provides financial, technical and business assistance to entrepreneurs for setting up new units or upgrading existing ones.
