AVYAY Scheme: Free medical camp for senior citizens held in Kakching

Kakching, February 03 2026:
A free medical camp for senior citizens was organised at the Bengal Durga Mandir Community Hall, Serou Part-II, under the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY) scheme on Tuesday.
The camp was conducted by the District Social Welfare Office, Kakching, in collaboration with the District Health Society, under the supervision of the District Administration Kakching.
A total of 160 senior citizens benefited from the camp, where health check-ups including screening for blood pressure, blood sugar levels and other ailments were conducted.
Free medicines were also distributed to the beneficiaries.

It may be mentioned that the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY) is a scheme aimed at improving quality of life of senior citizens by providing basic amenities like shelter, food, medical care and entertainment opportunities and by encouraging productive and active ageing through providing support for capacity building of State/UT Governments/ Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)/ Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) I local bodies and the community at large.
