Chandel, January 03 2026: Starting the New Year with a focus on community development, Assam Rifles organised a sports items distribution programme across Machi, Modi, Molpi, Bongmol, Tabikeithal, Parengtong, and Lairam Phunka in Chandel district on January 3.As per a press note issued by IGAR (S), the force distributed essential equipment, including volleyballs and nets, to five local sports clubs, enabling regular outdoor recreation to meet local requests.

The event saw a robust participation of over 300 villagers, including young athletes.

Around 45 officials and troops successfully coordinated the distribution and interacted with the participants throughout the day.

During the interaction, local Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) highlighted that the North Eastern region possesses a vibrant sporting culture where outdoor games are essential for teamwork and healthy recreation.

They noted that the current seasonal conditions provide a perfect window for such activities and appreciated that Assam Rifles has been a consistent partner in helping local youth achieve proficiency in various disciplines across the State.
