Imphal, June 02 2026:
Sagolband AC MLA RK Imo today laid the foundation stone for an overhead tank and an emergency service reservoir at Bijoy Govinda to provide 24-hour drinking water to local residents under AMRUT 2.0 .
Speaking at the event, RK Imo said Manipur is the second State after Odisha to take up a water supply pilot project under the scheme.
Two sites in Manipur have been selected, including Bijoy Govinda in Sagolband.
The project will be implemented by the PHE Department.
Once completed, the facility will ensure clean and safe drinking water round-the-clock every day, he added.
The MLA noted that most areas in Sagolband AC do not face major water scarcity and already receive potable water.
Under a separate Water ATM project, 20 units were sanctioned for Manipur, of which Sagolband AC received two- at Sagolband Meino Leirak and Kwakeithel Leimakhujam Leikai - to further strengthen access to safe drinking water.
"As a public representative, I am working to ensure all basic facilities reach the people of this constituency.
I seek the public's full cooperation in these efforts", Imo said.
Officials said the new infrastructure will boost storage capacity and improve reliability of supply for Bijoy Govinda and surrounding areas.
