RIMS OPD services seriously affected; orgns demand declaration of ANM/GNM test results

Pressing for their demands, some 300 contract basis employees of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal on Monday stormed the Administrative Block of the hospital causing serious disturbance to OPD services.
The contract basis employees of the premier hospital have been demanding a pay hike and regularisation of their services.
Agitating over non-fulfillment of their demands, the employees converged near the hospital Administrative Block shouting slogans at around 11 am and stormed the Administrative Block and forced to suspend OPD services.
A large number of personnel from Lamphel Police Station rushed to the spot to control the mob.
After a long stand-off, the police managed to bring the situation under control.

RIMS Medical Superintendant Prof C Amuba was also seen at the spot trying to pacify the angry protestors.
However, the protestors rejected any settlement on withdrawing the agitation.
Prof C Amuba told the protestors that the hospital authority had already raised the matter with the Central Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Meanwhile, 'All Manipur ANM/GNM Test Appeared Candidates' held a sit-in protest in front of RIMS Director demanding declaration of the examination results.
Some 6000 candidates appeared for the test held to select candidates for nursing courses with a payment of Rs 600 each as examination fee in 2013.The RIMS authority has so far withheld the results.
The protestors holding several placards demanded declaration of the examination result within 48 hours.
Talking to media persons on the sidelines of the protest sit-in, a spokesperson of the association stated that they wanted to submit a memorandum to the Director.
"We're told that the Director is not in the hospital.
But we'll wait for him," the spokesperson said.
She further stated that memorandums had been submitted to the Chief Minister and his deputy and the Medical Director urging them to declare the results but nothing concrete action has been taken till now.
