Village Authority alleges misappropriation of funds meant for villagers of Laphok

Noney, August 28 2025: The Bitiang (Laphok) Village Authority has raised serious allegations of financial misappropriation by some individuals of Laphok Village, Noney district.

The authority in a release has alleged that some individuals of Laphok village have withdrawn a large amount of money without the knowledge of the hereditary Khunbu/Khullakpa.

The authority alleged that the funds, released under DCDRDA Noney/PMKSY 2.0 (WDC)/2022 from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Noney, were reportedly misappropriated without being distributed to the rightfill beneficiaries of Laphok village.

According to the statement, a formal complaint regarding the matter was lodged with the Superintendent of Police, Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Department on Aug 18, 2025 .

The case is now under investigation registered as Enquiry No 21/V/SP-V&AC/2025 .

The Village Authority has further directed that no additional funds meant for the Laphok village be withdrawn or released without the explicit knowledge and approval of the hereditary Khunbu or Khullakpa of Laphok village.

In line with this, the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Noney, has been urged not to release any future amounts to the alleged individuals.

Any disbursal of funds, if required, should only be carried out in the name of the hereditary Khunbu and Khullakpa to ensure transparency and accountability.
