VWSC refutes report of water connection to 900 households in Tronglaobi GP

Bishnupur, May 28 2025: The reports made by some local daily on May 18 that 900 households of Tronglaobi area have water connection and have uninterrupted water supply are baseless, said the Village Water Sanitation Committee (VWSC), Tronglaobi.

Speaking in this connection, VWSC secretary, N Bijenkumar said that in Feb-ruary 2019, during the term of the then MLA of Moirang AC, Ex MLA P Sharatchandra Singh (Retd IAS & Principal secretary, Govt of Manipur), the construction of water supply scheme under JJM Flagship programme commences after thorough consultation from relevant authorities and PHED Bishnupur.

Following this, in December 2022, the current MLA of Moirang AC, Thongam Shanti Singh along with PHED officials and VWSC members inspected the important water source and its origin.

Even though MLA Thongam Shanti Singh had lend various support to the committee to bring water connection in the village, it is not related to the JJM works, said Bijenkumar.

In addition, the eruption of the communal violence on May 3, 2023 had hamper the construction work of JJM and cannot be proceed further.

Thus no water connection has been made to 900 households till date, asserted Bijenkumar.

In this regard, on May 26, 2025 a meeting was called upon and made clear that the members of VWSC are not related with the claims made, said the committee.
