Mukna & Thang-Ta Workshop / Residential Coaching Camp concludes

A 6 days Mukna & Thang-Ta Workshop cum Residential Coaching Cwip organised by the Directorate of Education (Schools), Government of Manipur concluded today at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal.
The closing function was graced by dignitaries, including Dr Mayengbam Veto Singh, Director, Youth Affairs & Sports (YAS), Manipur; Bisheshwar Khumukcham, Additional Director, Education (S) Valley, Manipur; Gurumayum Anita Devi, Additional Director, Education (S), GC, Manipur; and Soraisham David Singh, Sr AO, Education(S), Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Veto said that it is responsibility of the YAS Department to implement youth welfare programmes, promote sports, and nurture the indigenous sports of Manipur, such as Sagol Kangjei and Mukna, thereby preserving the State's cultural heritage.
He asserted that the YAS Department has been actively pushing for the preservation and promotion of indigenous sports like Mukna, Sagol Kangjei, and Thang-Ta, seeking the Ministry's support through initiatives and schemes for their sustained existence and growth.
"The Ministry has recognised and taken steps to preserve Manipur's indigenous sports like Mukna, Sagol Kangjei, and Thang-Ta through initiatives such as including them in the Khelo India Youth Games and setting up infrastructure like the National Sports University", he added.
Dr Veto further called for collective effort to ensure Manipur's unique sporting heritage is maintained and passed on to future generations.
Special demonstration of Mukna & Thang-Ta by the students and trainees, and presentation of certificates to the master trainers, trainers, officials and teachers were the main highlights of the event.
