Yaipha Thouni held for Manipuri films 'Esou Mapee' and 'Lili'

Imphal, July 27 2026: Yaipha Thouni (blessing) ceremonies for two new Manipuri feature films were held at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul.

The ceremony for JB Cinema World's maiden production "Esou Mapee" was held today.

To be produced by Aswin Record, the event was attended by veteran actress Lalitabi Longjam as chief guest, with Film Forum Manipur Chairman in-charge N Surjitkanta Singh and noted lyricist Sangeeta Nong as guests of honour.

Cast and crew, both onscreen and off-screen, were felicitated.

Story and screenplay writer Ajay Tantha said "Esou Mapee" is a psychological romance and expressed confidence that the team's dedication will make it a successful film.

N Surjitkanta urged newcomers to work with sincerity and quality to take Manipuri cinema beyond the State, assuring Film Forum's support.

Moreover, the Yaipha Thouni ceremony for Sunlight Film Production's "Lili" was held yesterday.

Khundrakpam AC MLA Thokchom Lokeshwar attended as chief guest, with Film Forum Manipur Secretary Ronel as president and other dignitaries present.
