Kakching, October 25 2025:
A one-day seminar on "Land, People and Culture" was organized by Yonyer Origin Union at Chingkhan Yonyer Village, Machi Block, Tengnoupal district on October 22 .
The seminar drew participants from various villages across Manipur.
Erection and unveiling of a monument stone at the sacred and historical site known as "Yonyer Sangkalaang" marked the event, said the union in a statement.
This revered site marks the place where, according to oral tradition, Saka Rongya and Hongsha Poute first consecrated the Yonyer settlement in ancient times.
The ritual involved the symbolic sacrifice of a cock, whose leg movements before death were interpreted to seek divine approval for the establishment of the settlement.
The monument was unveiled by retired MCS officer S Angdon Maring in presence of elders, community leaders, and representatives from various Yonyer-origin villages including hereditary Khunbu of Chingkhan Yonyer Village, Moshel Rangshon.
