National Deworming Day campaign launched in Thoubal, targets 82,000 children

Thoubal, March 25 2026: The National Deworming Day campaign was launched in Thoubal district on Wednesday with a target to cover around 82,000 children in the first phase of this year.

Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal, Yumnam Robita, formally launched the campaign at a function held today at the Election Counting Hall of the DC Complex.

The programme was organised by the District Health Society, Thoubal.

Among those present at the event were Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Thoubal, Dr Y Nokul; ZEO Zone III Thoubal.

Y Achouba; and ICDS Project Thoubal, DPO, Th Romita.

As part of the launch, the Deputy Commissioner administered deworming tablets to school children, marking the commencement of the first phase of the campaign in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Yumnam Robita highlighted the importance of deworming in preventing soil-transmitted intestinal worms, anaemia, and related physical and mental health issues among children.

She stressed that regular deworming contributes significantly to the overall growth and development of children.

She further informed that the campaign aims to cover children and adolescents aged 1 to 19 years, including pre-semester college students, and called for active support from ASHA facilitators, school teachers, and Anganwadi workers and helpers to ensure its successful implementation.

The programme was also attended by ASHA facilitators and Anganwadi workers and helpers from across the district.
