Workshop on Maha Raas concludes in Jiribam

Jiribam, October 24 2025: The 30-day workshop-cum-production of Maha Raas (Eko Shyam, Eko Gopi), organised by the Inunganbi Manipuri Dance Academy, Jiribam, under the initiative of the Ministry of Culture, Govt of India, New Delhi, concluded today at Shree Shree Radha Gobinda Mandir in Dibong, Jiribam.

The closing ceremony of the workshop programme was graced by several dignitaries including the principal i/c of Jiribam Higher Secondary School, Khundongbam Indikumar Singh; UFO Fast West Manipur president K Khumanjao; and retd Pradhan Guru of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy Imphal, Ngathem Ranjit Singh, who attended as the chief guest; president and guest of honour respectively.

As part of the event, the guests were honoured with Lengyan Phee (traditional shawl) before lighting the ceremonial lamp, marking the formal conclusion of the workshop.

Later, Inunganbi Manipuri Dance Academy, Jiribam, secretary Chandam Biren Singh, delivered the welcome address followed by presentation of keynote remarks from the invited dignitaries.

They lauded the academy's efforts in preserving and promoting the rich cultural and classical dance traditions of Manipur through sustained training and creative performances.

The event culminated with a mesmerising presentation of Jagoi Ras Lila, drawing applause and appreciation from the gathering.
