Unauthorised structures evicted in Jiribam

Jiribam, July 24 2025:
The district administration, in collaboration with teams of district police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and the PWD, conducted an eviction drive against unauthorised constructions in various areas of Jiribam on Thursday.
The drive, which was carried out from IB Road to Jiri Market approach lane, led to dismantling and removing of eight unauthorised structures, including shops and sheds, that had encroached on public land and footpaths.
The operation, executed with the use of excavators, was aimed at clearing public spaces of encroachments that had contributed to traffic congestion and inconvenience to pedestrians.
Jiribam DC Krishna Kumar stated that the operation was conducted under the provisions of the Manipur Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 1978.He appealed to shopkeepers and residents not to encroach on public land and cautioned that the eviction drive would continue.
Notably, the district administration had earlier issued an order for the removal of unauthorised structures and appealed to the public to cooperate with the eviction drive.
The operation was conducted in the presence of Jiribam SDO L Tarajeet, along with officials from the revenue department and PWD Jiribam, under the supervision of DC Krishna Kumar.
The eviction drive is part of the district administration's efforts to maintain law and order, ensure public safety, and improve the overall infrastructure of Jiribam town.
The administration has urged the public to comply with its directives and refrain from encroaching on public land.
