Top residents express discontent over road construction

Imphal, May 24 2025: Locals of Top have expressed dissatisfaction over the blacktopping of the road connecting Top Khongnangkhong and Top Khewa in Imphal East.

Speaking to the media, Thockhom Bomcha, advisor of Top Youth Club, said that the road's blacktopping was supposed to be 17.9 feet wide, but only 12 feet have been covered.

He warned that they will launch an agitation if the road project isn't completed according to specifications and the drainage on both sides of the road isn't repaired within 10 days.

Bomcha stated that Key Stone Infrastructure Private Limited, the project's implementing agency, didn't respond when invited for discussions on the road project's improper implementation.

The advisor also said that they haven't had the opportunity to discuss the issue with the PWD official at the work site.

Appealing to the Kshetrigao Assembly Constituency MLA to look into the matter, he added that they will boycott him and people who intend to contest the 2027 Assembly election in the Constituency if they fail to condemn the improper road project implementation.

He also urged the PWD authorities to clarify whether they are involved in the project or not.
