MSCW organises awareness programme on 'Yashoda AI'

Imphal, July 22 2026: The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW), in collaboration with the National Commission for Women (NCW), organised a one-day awareness programme on "Yashoda AI" at the Jubilee Hall of DM College of Teacher Education, Imphal today.

The programme was attended by MSCW Chairperson Th Tiningpham Monsang, Member Sk Sophia, Member Secretary and Additional Director of DIPR W Phajatombi Devi, and Dr Anita Kangabam, Principal in-charge, DM College of Teacher Education, as presidium members.

Addressing the gathering, Th Tiningpham said MSCW regularly conducts seminars to educate women about their constitutional and legal rights.

She informed that 'Yashoda AI" is a nationwide NCW initiative to promote AI literacy and digital awareness among women, and the Imphal programme is the first of its kind in Manipur under NCW sponsorship.

She said the initiative aims to empower women through understanding of AI, digital literacy, online safety, cyber security, self-reliance through technology and leadership development.

Citing examples of cyber frauds such as fake bank messages, she stressed the need for vigilance and digital awareness.

W Phajatombi Devi highlighted MSCW's role in addressing complaints related to violence, harassment and discrimination.

She added that despite limited resources, the Commission continues its work with Gender Budget support from the State Government.

In the technical session, resource person Lamyanba Waikhom spoke on "AI in Education and Pedagogy" .

Teachers, students and other participants attended the programme.
