Kakching, February 22 2025:
Frequent transfer and posting of Principal has courted wrath of students, prompting them to shut the Administrative Block of the Kha-Manipur College (KMC), Kakching today.
Kha-Manipur College has more than 2000 students pursuing different courses in three faculties.
However, frequent change of Principal has affected the functioning of the college and disturbed the academic atmosphere, said students of the college.
In a short span of a little over a month, there have been two orders of appointment of Principal for the college.
This frequent change of the Principal has failed the college administration and is unacceptable, said student union general secretary, Yengkhom Nelson.
"An order appointing a Principal was issued a month ago.
A new order has emerged yesterday again for appointing another person as the Principal.
Such orders of changing the Principal frequently have made a mockery of the college," Nelson said.
The student leader said the person who is currently holding the office of the Principal should continue his office, and the students will not accept anyone new.
The A-Block will be shut until the authorities hear the grievances of the students and college, Nelson added.
The Kha-Manipur College is one of the important colleges in South Manipur, and it has produced many position holders in examinations conducted by the Manipur University.
The college should be able to function normally and preserve its academic atmosphere, Nelson said.
The students of the college protested inside the campus and held placards demanding the authorities to scrap the new order of appointment.
