Imphal, December 21 2025: A national seminar on "Ratan Thiyam gi Sheireng Neinaba" was successfully conducted today at the auditorium of JN Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) in Imphal.

The seminar was jointly organised by the Asheilup Manipur, JNMDA and Lilong Haoreibi College to commemorate the life, works, and enduring legacy of cultural icon Late Ratan Thiyam.

The inaugural function was graced by Karam Shyam, MLA, Langthabal AC; Dilip Mayengbam, president, Asheilup Manipur; and Prof Md Abdul Sattar Shah, Principal, Lilong Haoreibi College as presidium members.

Longjam Joychandra Singh, Vice Chairman, JNMDA, also attended the seminar as the moderator.

The seminar included sessions where scholars presented papers analyzing various aspects of Ratan Thiyam's literary and artistic contributions.

Dr Arambam ongbi Memchoubi gave a paper presentation on "Sanagi Thambal: Ratan Thiyam" while Prof Wahengbam Kumari Chanu elaborated on "Ratan Thiyam gi Sheireng gi mityeng" and Devdas Mairembam spoke on "Post-colonial gi mityeng da Ratan Thiyam gi Sheireng".

Dr Ningombam Nando Singh also gave a presentation on the topic, "Ratan Thiyam gi Sheireng gi Lon amasung Khut-e" .

The seminar also featured a poem recitation session where 11 poets read poems drawn from Late Ratan Thiyam's published poetry collections.

The release of "Sheireng Volume VI" journal and presentation of gifts to the wife and son of Late Ratan Thiyam were the other highlights of the event.
