Meet discusses long-pending issues of Government employees, pensioners

A joint delegation of the Manipur State Pensioners Union and Manipur Secretariate Services' Association along with the representatives of Manipur Government Services' Federation (MGSF) held a meeting with the Commissioner (Finance), Government of Manipur on November 18, 2025.The joint delegation also met with the Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur on November 19, 2025.As per a release issued by MFSF, the meetings were primarily focussed on the long-pending and critical issues concerning the employees and pensioners of the State, including clearance of DA/DR (16 percent) to bring parity with Central Government employees; constitution of the 8th Pay Commission in line with the evolving economic conditions and pay structures; and restoration of Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for eligible employees.
The meetings also deliberated on, filling up of existing vacancies across various departments to ensure efficient public service delivery; timely payment of service retirement benefits to all retiring employees; and extension of retirement age from 60 years to 62 years.
During the meeting, the Government's side expressed broad agreement in principle on several points, all retirement benefits to be cleared by the three months and conveyed its intention to hold further detailed deliberations in January-February, 2026.However, the representatives from the federating organisations expressed dissatisfaction with the current proposals and the absence of firm timelines for implementation of demands.
The MGSF appealed to the Government to take urgent, concrete steps to avoid undesirable unrest and uphold the welfare and dignity of its workforce.
The MGSF also cautioned that the federation along with all associated organisations, will be compelled to consider and initiate further courses of action to secure the rightful demands of the employees and pensioners of Manipur.
