POCSO: 50-year-old man convicted for sexual assault

Imphal, June 21 2025: A Fast Track POCSO Court has convicted a 50-year-old man for sexually assaulting a minor girl.

RK Memcha, Judge, Fast Track Special Court Number 1 convicted the man, identified as Mayengbam Inao under Section 6 of POCSO Act.

The Court has fixed June 24 for sentence hearing and announcement of the quantum of punishment.

The case was on against the convict after the father of the victim minor girl lodged a complaint with Singjamei police.

On May 12, 2019 at around 5 pm, the minor girl was sexually assaulted by the convict inside the bathroom when the adult members of the household were busy distributing kerosene oil in a nearby community hall.

The incident came to light when the minor complained of pain in her private part during bathing to her mother on the same day.

Mayengbam Inao was arrested on may 16, 2019 and remanded to judicial custody on May 22, 2019 .

Investigating Officer of the case, Sub Inspector G Kitty Sharma had filed the charge sheet before the Court for trial.
