Warm reception accorded to newly promoted IPS officers in Bishnupur

Moirang, January 18 2026: Dr Sarangthem Ibomcha Singh and Sarangthem Asana, who were recently promoted to the Indian Police Service (IPS) from the Manipur Police Service (MPS), were accorded a warm reception on Sunday by the Sarangthem Sagei Apunba Chaokhat Thousil Tengbang Lup and the Sarangthem Sagei Apokpa Meepham Shanglen Construction Committee.

The reception ceremony was held at the residence of Sarangthem Gandhi at Wahengkhuman Mamang Leikai in Bishnupur district.

The event was attended by Dr Sarangthem Ibomcha Singh (IPS); Sarangthem Asana (IPS); president of Sarangthem Sagei Apunba Chaokhat Thousil Tengbang Lup S Sanatomba Singh; secretary S Ibopishak Singh; convenor of the Sarangthem Sagei Apokpa Meepham Shanglen S Somorendro; and co-convenor S Gandhi, among others as presidium members.

Several members of the Sarangthem clan from different parts of the State were also present.

During the programme, the organisers formally welcomed the two IPS officers and felicitated them with bouquets and mementoes in recognition of their achievement.

Speaking on the occasion, chairperson of the Sarangthem Sagei Apokpa Meepham Shanglen Construction Committee, S Somokanta, said the event was organised to honour distinguished achievers of the Sarangthem clan who have recently been elevated to the Indian Police Service.

He further informed that the third edition of the Yumdarol Puya of the Sarangthem clan is scheduled to be released on February 13.Emphasising unity and collective strength, he stated that the Sarangthem clan has built a strong sense of oneness through unity, and urged other clans of the State to come together in a similar spirit to strengthen the idea of a united Manipur.
