Imphal, February 17 2018: The JAC formed in connection with the alleged rape of a 12 year old minor girl at Thanga, Bishnupur district, on February 13, has put forward several demands to the State Government today, including setting up of a Special Investigation Team to investigate the incident.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, the JAC's advisor, S Tiken Singh, alleged that the investigation which will be conducted by Bishnupur Women PS, will not be effective and appropriate as the OC is a close relative of the accused, Heisnam Lanboi.

Alleging that three other accomplices of Lanboi were also involved in the case, the JAC's advisor stated that the surrender of Lanboi to a police station cannot be regarded as the end of the case and urged the State Government as well as the police to arrest and book all the culprits involved, under relevant sections of the IPC.

Demanding Lanboi to be booked under POCSO Act 2012, he questioned why the police have not booked the accused under the Act till date.

Maintaining that the photo of the victim was uploaded in social media sites by some individuals, Tiken urged the Cyber Cell of Manipur Police to arrest those individuals who are responsible for uploading the image.

Alleging that the father of the accused, H Budhi Singh, admitted that his son had raped the minor girl on the day the incident came to light and that he had signed an agreement with the victim's family irt front of the locals to produce his son by 3 pm the next day, the JAC advisor informed that Budhi failed to keep his promise the next day.

He alleged that family members of the accused and some locals of Thanga Heisnam Leikai (where Lanboi lives/resides) have also counter charged the victim with stealing jewels from the house of the accused on the day Lanboi was to be produced.

He further alleged that they attacked the family members, locals and womenfolk who went to ask the father of the accused to produce his son, as per the agreement made before.

The father of the victim, who was also present at the meet, charged that his daughter was kidnapped and raped by Lanboi of Thanga Heisnam Leikai on February 13.He informed that his daughter was abandoned half naked and unconscious near a hillock after Lanboi and his three other accomplices committed the crime.

Asserting that a FIR has been lodged after the victim's family filed a written complaint to Bishnupur Women PS, the victim father condemned the lack of action from the side of the police and sought justice for his daughter at the earliest.
