Imphal, July 16 2025: A 55-year-old man identified as Abdul Hakim has been arrested in a hit and run case that took the life of a woman on July 7 .

The woman, Shamurailatpam Manitombi (55), was the wife of Shyam Sharma of Naranseina Makha Leikai.

She was knocked down by a four wheeler vehicle while she was walking on NH-2 near Thongkhong, Naranseina village.

After registering a case, police started investigation and identified the vehicle as a Maruti Fronx, owned by one Md Imtiyaz Khan of Hiyangthang Tarehei Konjil.

When investigated, police found Md Imtiyaz Khan was staying in Kashmir.

Later, his father, Abdul Hakim was summoned by the police.

During examination on July 15, Md Abdul Hakim confessed he was driving the vehicle on the night of the incident.

He was then arrested and produced before the Court of CJM Bishnupur which remanded him to police custody till July 19 .
