'Ring the Bell' campaign launched, pushing for inclusive education

Imphal, March 16 2026:
A significant campaign aimed at promoting inclusive education for children with disabilities, titled "Ring the Bell Campaign, 2026", was launched today at the Unique Golden Cradle (UGC) School, Awang Khunou.
The initiative seeks to ensure that all children, regardless of their abilities, have the opportunity to learn alongside their peers in a mainstream school environment.
The opening ceremony was was graced by dignitaries, including W Birahari Singh, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Manipur; Dr Sapam Jasowanta Singh, Chairman of Handicapped Development (HD) Foundation; and Salam Sumer Singh, Principal of UGC School.
The launch event kicked off with dignitaries releasing air balloons, followed by a signature campaign to drum up support.
Around 250 participants, including kids, teachers and Government officials, received informative leaflets and the campaign manifesto.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jasowanta emphasized the core focus of the campaign is the inclusion of children with disabilities, advocating for their right to attend school with their peers and promoting inclusive education in all institutions.
W Birahari stated that the campaign seeks to foster inclusive education and social equality, giving students with disabilities the chance to learn alongside their peers.
The event culminated in a loud, collective clap and slogans by students, highlighting the need to include children with disabilities in schools.
