CAC Centre inaugurated at District Hospital Bishnupur

A Comprehensive Abortion Care (CAC) Centre was officially inaugurated at the District Hospital Bishnupur today by Dr Meena Seram, advisor Maternal Health, State Health Society, National Health Mission.
The hospital was inaugurated under the joint initiative of the Maternal Health Division, State Health Society, National Health Mission in collaboration with Institute of Social Research Development (ISRD) and the District Hospital Bishnupur.
The inauguration programme, held at the hospital's conference hall was graced by Advisor Maternal Health, State Health Society, National Health Mission Dr Meena Seram as chief guest; Chief Medical Officer Bishnupur Dr.L Raichandra Singh as functional president and Medical Superintendent District Hospital Bishnupur Dr.Satyabala Khulen, State Nodal Officer Maternal Health State Health Society National Health Mission Manipur, Dr Achuina Golmei and Director ISRD Imphal Ksh Dinesh Singh as guests of honour.
In her keynote address, Dr Meena Seram highlighted the importance of ensuring safe abortion services and maternal care through government facilities.
She emphasized the need for proper implementation, data-driven planning, and quality monitoring under schemes like the National Health Mission and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly in achieving the target of reducing maternal mortality to fewer than 70 deaths per 100,000 live births by 2030.She also stressed on raising awareness among ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, and frontline health providers regarding the prevention of unsafe abortions.
She highlighted that the new CAC centre aims to ensure privacy, confidentiality, and non-judgemental counselling, with an emphasis on women's dignity and autonomy.
