Locals protest bomb threat

Thoubal, October 13 2025: Locals staged a sit-in protest today denouncing the planting of a bomb at the residence of Apunba Nupi Khunai Lamjing Meira Lup, Yairipok president Asem Ibetombi Devi.

The protest was held in front of her residence at Yairipok Laimanai, along the Yairipok-Keithelmanbi Road.

The demonstration was jointly organised by Laimanai Youth Club, Yairipok and Laimanai Apunba Meira Paibi.

The protesters wielded placards with messages such as "We condemn placing of bombs in civilian areas", "We condemn acts of intimidation", "Let civilians live in peace" and "We want peace".

At the protest, Asem Ibetombi said that she has been involved in social work for more than 40 years since 1984 .

At the State-level, she has completed 25 years in this field.

Ibetombi expressed grief that a bomb was planted at her residence without any opportunity for dialogue.

She added that the incident has embarrassed her before the public.

Speaking in this connection, P Araba, president, LYC said that the residents of Laimanai strongly condemn the incident.

Questioning the motive behind the bomb threat, he remarked that all grievances can be resolved through discourse.

Urging those responsible for the bomb threat to offer a clarification to the youth club and meira paibis promptly, he made an appeal to stop such acts across Manipur in the future.

Speaking by the sideline of the protest, W Meipak, president, Khunai Kanba Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (KHUKAMPAL) Thoubal District denounced the bomb threat at the residence of a meira paibi and demanded an explanation from the responsible individuals.
