Imphal, August 11 2025:
The Joint Students' Coordinating Committee (JSCC) has urged all schools and colleges to observe "Athoubashinggi Numit" (Patriots' Day) on August 13 .
As in previous years, the JSCC will observe the Patriots' Day on August 13 .
The objective is to instil patriotism in the minds of the people, especially the younger generation, said the committee in a statement.
It appealed to the Education Department to encourage schools and colleges under it to observe the Patriots' Day, and urged educational institutions to organise patriotic song and poetry recitation programmes.
Through the observance, the people, especially the younger generations must trace the history and remember "our forefathers" who fought valiantly and sacrificed for the motherland during the 1891 Anglo-Manipur War.
The footprints of "our brave forefathers" must be traced and it should "inspire us" to become" self-reliant and define our own fate", said the JSCC .
