Imphal, March 11 2026:
A workshop on "Career Opportunities for International Students in Japan" was successfully conducted today at DM Science Block, Dhanamanjuri University (DMU), Imphal.
The workshop, organised by the International Affairs Cell of DMU featured speakers from Japan, including Dr Nabuyoshi Kojima from Hosei University in Tokyo, Japan, and Teruaki Watanabe from BENA India Pvt Ltd in New Delhi.
The speakers discussed opportunities available at Hosei University, potential areas for research collaboration, and job opportunities for Manipuri youth in Japan.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof W Chandbabu, Vice Chancellor of DMU, stated that the interaction was organised to help students from Manipur gain exposure to large universities and industries abroad, specifically focusing on career prospects in Japan.
He expressed confidence that the interaction would benefit the students, highlighting that BENA India Pvt Ltd is a long-established Japanese company in India and that the event would open up job avenues and future research opportunities for students at Japanese universities.
Dr Binota Thokchom, Coordinator of the International Affairs Cell, mentioned that given the high unemployment problem in Manipur, such interactions are crucial for providing exposure to available companies and job opportunities.
She also revealed plans for the university to open a Japanese language center.
Dr Binot further shared that the International Affairs Cell plans to continue organising similar interaction programs to explore opportunities for students and youth in other countries like Thailand, UAE, Korea, and China.
