Kangpokpi, August 06 2025:
Issuing an ultimatum to lift travel restriction imposed on Kuki community within 36 hours, the Working Committee of Kuki Civil Society Organisations (WCKCSOs) has threatened to block the National Highway-2 .
The Working Committee Kuki CSOs said that the indefinite restriction, which has been in effect since July 15, has inflicted immense hardship on commuters, cutting off essential supplies and escalating tensions in an already fragile region.
It then alleged that "certain radicalized Meitei supremacists are using the 'Foothills Naga' as a scapegoat to create friction between the Kuki-Zo and Naga communities" .
If the blockade is not lifted within 36 hours, an indefinite total blockade of essential supplies along National Highway-2 will begin from 7 am of August 8, said the organisation.
