Shots fired at AR team in CCpur

Imphal, March 06 2025: A team of Assam Rifles came under attack from suspected cadres of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA), a nonSoO group, near Khopijang village under Henglep sub-division of Churachandpur district on Thursday around 10:30 am.

Several rounds were fired on the security personnel, prompting them to retaliate.

According to police sources, the attack took place in an area where a pre-fabricated camp for central security forces is being constructed between S Khonom and Khopijang villages as part of the ongoing security measures in the state.

The Assam Rifles team was conducting an area domination foot patrol near the construction site when the armed cadres opened fire from a distance.

In response, the AR personnel retaliated, leading to an exchange of fire.

Following the attack, additional security forces rushed to the area and conducted a search operation.

However, no arrests were reported.

Security measures in the area have been further tightened to prevent any untoward incidents.

No injuries were reported in the attack.
