RIMS observes World Hand Hygiene Day, World Asthma Day

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal observed World Hand Hygiene Day 2026 today by organizing an awareness programme for patients and visitors at the New General OPD Block ofRIMS Hospital, Imphal.
The ceremony was held in line with the global theme 'Action Saves Lives, which underscores the importance of proper hand hygiene in preventing healthcare-associated infections and promoting patient safety.
As part of the programme, a demonstration on appropriate hand hygiene techniques was conducted for patients and visitors.
Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials were distributed to enhance awareness and encourage the adoption of proper hygiene practices.
On the same occasion, World Asthma Day 2026 was also observed by organizing a free spirometry testing programme at the Respiratory Medicine OPD, RIMS Hospital, Imphal, in line with the global theme 'Access to antiinflammatory inhalers for everyone with asthma - still an urgent need' .
The initiative aimed to reinforce the significance of hand hygiene among patients, attendants, and the general public, thereby contributing to effective infection prevention and control both within healthcare settings and in the wider community.
Additionally, it aimed to promote early detection and effective management of respiratory conditions through spirometry testing, a key diagnostic tool for asthma and other lung diseases.
The programme was attended by Heads of Departments, faculty members, nursing officials, staff, and students of RIMS, Imphal.
