Manipur State Council, All India Youth Federation (MSC/AIYF) conducted a State level organisational convention at Irawat Bhavan, Imphal yesterday.
According to a press release, a five-member delegation was selected to participate in the 17th National Conference of ATYF to be held at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh from May 15 to 18duringtheconvention.The delegation will propose a nation-wide protest to bring a solution to the Manipur conflict at the national conference.
Additionally, seven State executive members of the Federation were appointed at the convention.
Notably, S Ingotombi was appointed as the acting president and Ahanthem Peter as acting secretary.
Maisnam Joykumar Luwang, assistant secretary, CPI Manipur delivered the inaugural address.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Moirangthem Nara Singh, former Arts and Culture Minister, stressed on the need for AIYF to take on social issues under the theme "Youth for social change" .
To achieve this, the MSC/AIFY should be strengthened to ensure its participation in the nation-wide movement to generate employment for educated youths, he added.
Meanwhile, leaders of the Federation highlighted its efforts to alleviate the suffering of relief camp inmates.
