Dept of Vety & AH Services signs MoU with NIC Imphal

The Department of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Services, Manipur, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Insurance Company (NIC), Imphal, for the implementation of Livestock Insurance under the National Livestock Mission (NLM) in Manipur.
The MoU was officially signed in a simple function held at the office chamber of the Director, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Services, Manipur, on July 4.As per a release issued by the RK Khogendrajit Singh, Director, Veterinary & Animal Husbandly Services, Manipur, the initiative aims to promote livestock health and security across the State.
Under this scheme, the premium rate is fixed at 5.25 percent of the insured animal's value, with the beneficiary (farmer) contributing 15 percent of the premium amount, while the Central and State share the remaining 85 percent.
The scheme covers horses and ponies, in addition to cattle, buffalo, mithun, yak, donkey, mules, sheep, goat, camel, pig, and rabbit, and aims to reduce financial losses for farmers.
The MoU is a significant step toward improving livestock welfare and providing financial protection to farmers in Manipur.
