PHFCL holds convention on "Job Creation and Economic Development in Manipur"

Imphal, January 04 2026: A significant convention on "Job Creation & Economic Development in Our State Manipur" was held today at the City Convention Centre, Palace Compound, Imphal.

The convention, organised by Panthoibi Housing Finance Company Limited (PHHCL), was focused on youth employment and expanding the company's financial services beyond housing, aiming for national growth while contributing to Manipur's economy.

The convention was graced by dignitaries, including Khaidem Mani Singh, former Chairperson, Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC); Sanamani Singh Yambem, retired General Manager, NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development); Aribam Noutuneshwari Devi, retried District & Session Judge; Khuraijam Athouba, convenor, COCOMI (Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity); and Thokchom Hemo Singh, chairman & managing director, PHFCL.

Speaking on the occasion, Thokchom Hemo said that Manipur is experiencing significant financial strain and an economic crisis, a situation severely aggravated by the dual impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the prolonged ethnic violence that erupted in May 2023."In the current climate of financial strain, PHFCL, the only public limited housing finance company in the entire North Eastern Region of India, plays a crucial role in addressing housing needs and promoting financial inclusion in Manipur", he added.

He informed that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (PMAY-CLSS), the company extends subsidized home loans to the economically weaker sections of the society, helping low-income families own homes in difficult times.

He conveyed that the PHFCL is dedicated to offering affordable home loans for construction, purchase, extension, and renovation of houses to individuals, including Government/private employees and self-employed professionals.

"This is particularly important as the crisis has intensified financial instability and a need for stable living environments", he added.

Furthermore, Thokchom Hemo reaffirmed the company's commitment to diversify financial products, expand nationally, and create job opportunities for Manipur's youth.
