RIMS organises 'One Health' awareness rally

The Department of Community Medicine, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, organised an awareness rally on "One Health" today.
The rally was conducted as part of the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM) and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) initiative under the theme, "One World, One Health - United for Human, Animal and Environmental Well-being".
As per a release issued by RIMS, the rally was flagged off by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal, in the presence of Prof L Rajesh Singh, Dean (Academics), RIMS, Imphal, and Dr Shantibala K, Professor & Head, Department of Community Medicine, RIMS, Imphal.
The rally commenced from the Department of Community Medicine, RIMS, and proceeded along the route: RIMS Road-MMS Gas-Sana Keithel-Lamphel CRPF-Lamphel Police Station-Lamphel Traffic Island- and back to RIMS.
Students, faculty members, and staff of the institute actively participated in the rally, raising awareness about the "One Health" concept which recognizes the interconnection between human, animal, and environmental health.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof G Sunil Kumar highlighted the celebration of International One Health Day with faculty, staff, and students from Forensic and Community Medicine.
He emphasized the "One Health" concept linking human, animal, and environmental health and noted RIMS's efforts to make the campus plastic-free.
Students were urged to avoid plastic, maintain cleanliness, and report stagnant water to prevent vector-borne diseases.
Two WhatsApp complaint numbers for civil and electrical issues were launched on November 1 for quick redressal with geotagged photo submissions.
The Director also stressed community participation and public health education and commended the Department of Community Medicine for organising the event.
