Imphal, April 02 2026: The 63rd Foundation Day of Manipuri Jagoi Marup was celebrated today at its Golden Jubilee Stage in Lamboi Khongnangkhong.

Manipur State Kala Akademi (MSKA) Secretary, Sunanda Thokchom, attended as the chief guest, while Manipuri Jagoi Marup former president, Ng Amumacha Singh, presided over the function.

The event included offering floral tributes to the photographs of late individuals who played a significant role in establishing the Manipuri Jagoi Marup, honoring their contributions.

Three members - Loitongbam Brajamohon Singh, Th Bimola Devi, and G Asharani Devi - were felicitated with simple gifts for receiving awards in various fields, encouraging their continued work.

Devajani Chaliha from Assam was presented with the first-ever Padma Shri Guru Amubi Award.

Additionally, the Guru Thingbaijam Babu Ningshing Mana, presented by former secretary RK Sanahanbi Devi, was awarded to the Jagoi Marup's senior sutradhari, Senjam Sanahanbi Devi, for her exceptional expertise in Manipuri dance.

In her address, Sunanda Thokchom emphasized the need for the current generation to uphold the traditional customs and principles inherent in Manipuri dance, as established by their elders.

She praised the Manipuri Jagoi Marup for promoting artists on an international level.

Sunanda also appreciated parents for encouraging their kids to pursue dance and music, urging everyone to join hands in promoting these art forms.
