Man dies as car catches fire

Imphal, March 01 2025: A tragic incident occurred at Lamboi Khongnangkhong Awang Leirak under Lamphel police station on Thursday night, where a black Swift car caught fire, resulting in the death of the driver.

The victim has been identified as Thokchom Roben Singh (48) son of late Thokchom Gulamchat Singh of Iroishemba Maning Leikai.

He was serving as a cashier at the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Lamphel.

The incident took place around 8 pm when locals noticed the vehicle engulfed in flames.

They immediately informed the authorities, following which fire service personnel arrived at the scene.

However, despite their efforts, they were unable to save the driver.

A forensic science team later assessed the crime scene to determine the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
