World Blood Donors Day held at Thoubal

Thoubal, July 31 2025: As observed across the globe, World Blood Day was marked today at the DIEC Hall of District Hospital Thoubal, organised by the State Blood Cell, State Health Society, NHM Manipur in collaboration with Directorate of Health Services, Govt of Manipur.

Held under the theme "Give Blood, Give Hope: Together We Save Lives!", the programme was graced by Additional Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, Aribam Amaijit Sharma, MCS, as chief guest; CMO Thoubal Dr Y Nokul Singh as functional president; and District Hospital Thoubal, MS Dr W Ruhinikumar Singh; MO in-charge of Blood Centre, Sr Specialist IHBT Dr L Dorendro Singh; and State Blood Cell, NHM Manipur, State Nodal Officer Dr Dayalaxmi as guests of honour.

Addressing the gathering, ADC Aribam Amaijit stressed the significance of voluntary blood donation, stating, "giving blood has no loss to the donor, but can save many lives".

He therefore encouraged the public to take up blood donation as a shared social responsibility to reduce preventable deaths due to blood shortages.

As part of the event, 21 blood donors were felicitated with badges and certificates in recognition of their invaluable contribution to society.
