Imphal, February 25 2016:
The Kuki Students' Organization (KSO), Twilang Block,
Sadar Hills today has drawn the attention of the State Govern-
ment over the delay of the construction work of Irang bridge
connecting Irang Part-II and Tujang Waichong, reports our cor-
respondent.
Decrying the sudden halt on the construction work,
KSO, Twilang Block president Enock Kipgen said that the
bridge is the only means of connectivity for the villagers of
Irang Part-II and Tujang Waichong.
Tujang Waichong being the marketing and educational
hubs of the area, the entire villages especially the students
were delighted when the bridge construction work began
April last year.
However, due to reasons best known to
them, the construction work was suddenly halted.
He also said that more than 350 students of Irang Part-
II are attending schools located at Tujang Waichong by
crossing the Irang river through the temporary bridge con-
structed over Irang river.
He said that many farmers earn
their livelihood by selling their produced at Tujang
Waichong.
Deplorable condition of the bridge has drasti-
cally hampered the economic and educational growth of the
area.
Expressing deep dismay over the situation, Enock
Kipgen underlined the importance of the bridge in commu-
nication network particularly in a place like Twilang area.
