State Forest department's wild life wing sponsored two day winter water bird census motivation camp was started at Keibul Lamjao National Park from Tuesday afternoon.
Former college lecturer and noted environmentalist Dr Kh Shamungou and President of the Sangai Protection Forum Budhi were the chief guest and president of the formal inaugural function of the motivation camp.
With the hope of getting some new ideas on how to conserve the eco-system of lakes around them and besides other basic knowledge on water bird census, 25 individuals who have been settling in and around state's Loktak,Pumlen and Ungamel lakes were taking part in the motivation camp.
State's environmentalist Dr Shamungou spoke on 'water bird study in Loktak Ramsar' while a researcher on birds RK Birjit presented a paper on 'water bird counting methods and techniques' to make aware the participants on the issue.
One Shyamjai Singh also spoke on 'floras of wetlands' while Dr Th Dolen and RK Birjit Singh are also scheduled to speak on 'GIS system in water bird conservation and use of GPS'.The camp will continue till tomorrow.
